A pilot program in Philadelphia uses videoconferencing to give incarcerated parents a more active role in the decision-making surrounding their kids. But while technology is creating new avenues for jailed parents to stay connected with their children, researchers emphasize the importance of contact meetings and say videoconferencing should only be used as a supplemental measure.
